Assignments and Personal Assessment of Educational Significance:

WebQuest: Evaluation of an Existing WebQuest This assignment was useful to discover what works and what doesn't in other WebQuests. It also made the task seem much less overwhelming. I struggle less with the pedagogy and planning than with the design and creativity aspect. It was good to view a variety of levels of design.
WebQuest (Group): Design This assignment made the task of creating an entire WebQuest seem much less overwhelming. As a whole, a WebQuest is a large and intimidating task; by breaking it down it was easier to see how each piece worked with the others. It also forced me to consider the pedagogy of the WebQuest.
WebQuest (Group): Creation of a WebQuest This assignment was a great activity to incorporate technology into my existing curriculum. I actually already used it with my students, and the results were far more meaningful for them than the previous activity. Students internalized the information more and were better able to discuss how the issues affected them and their own thinking.
Web Site: Design This assignment was good to help with layout. I have already had some experience with creating websites, and therefore had a good idea of what I wanted to do. It was mostly helpful as a reminder when I would come back to the creation after a few days. I was able to easily pick up where I left off. It also helped me stay focused on the content rather than the look of the pages.
Web Site: Creation and Publishing This assignment was a great activity to reach my students and their families in a more effective way. I have had my website live for a few weeks and have directed several students and parents to it for access to information they need.
StAIR: Mini Project Design I had not used Power Point much before, so was more concerned with the "how do I do that?" questions at first. Creating this design form ensured that I had given thought to the "why" of the project and not just the "how."
StAIR: Mini Project Development I used this activity with some of my remedial students, and they found it very helpful. The following week, we used the information they practiced in the StAIR, and those students who had done the StAIR applied the learned language to the new task.
StAIR: Major Project Design My mini StAIR got huge pretty quickly, so I was worried about how large my major would get. This helped keep me focused and also maintain order to the large amount of information to include in the StAIR.
StAIR: Major Project Development The major StAIR really didn't take very long to complete because of the practice in the Mini StAIR. I was better able to focus on the learning strategies instead of the "how do I do that?" questions. I've used it with students and they have expressed enjoyment...time will tell whether they learned from it.
StAIR: Major Project Report This was a good opportunity to reflect on the process I went through in creating the StAIR. Much of the work I did, as I said above, was focused on the pedagogy and it was therefore simple to look back on the process and evaluate my product.
Personal Technology Plan This includes my vision statement for technology, how I employ technology in education, and a plan for increasing my knowledge of and use of technology.
Language Arts Technology-Based Lesson Plans This page includes lesson plans for seventh grade English Language Arts using PowerPoint, a WebQuest, an Online Discussion Forum, and Digital Streaming.
Project Evaluation Plan This pages provides a summary of how the ELA Technology-Based Lesson Plans project can be evaluated for its effectiveness.
