Welcome Message from Mrs. Kohrman

This wonderful facility was financed as part of a 1994 bond issue and opened its doors in November 1996. The media center, which has approximately 6000 square feet, serves a middle school and high school population of over 1,100 students and is conveniently adjacent to both schools. Through an electronic card catalog, students have access to more than 10,000 volumes of traditional print materials. In addition, there are electronic encyclopedias, periodical literature, and over 30 computer stations with T1 connection to the Internet. There is also a room dedicated for multi media production as well as another computer lab which contains 24 stations with a variety of curruculum related software and the Michigan Occupational Information System (MOIS) data base. Students and their teachers make full use of these facilities every school day from 7:50 AM until 5:00 PM. Although the media center is currently full of activity, plans for the future are exciting. Development of a career resource center and expansion of the multi media equipment are anticipated.
The staff of the secondary media center includes 30 student media and tech aides (some of whom help out in the elementary media center); Mary Moeggenborg who assists in the daily operation of the center from 11:00 to 5:00; and me, Dee Kohrman, media specialist.
Please browse around our media center through the web pages created by Kellie Bleecker, one of my former independent study students. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me (phone: 517-828-6601 (ext. 456) or email: ckohrman@edzone.net).
