33rd ANNUAL TURKEY TROT 6K TRAIL RUN

Sunday, November 4, 2007, 3 p.m., Deerfield County Park, Mt. Pleasant

Sponsored by the Mt. Pleasant Striders—RRCA Sanctioned

Awards: Awards will I be presented to the overall male and female winners and to the male and female master winners (40 years and up). Age group competition is not included in the Turkey Trot. The first 60 entrants will receive a wonderful Turkey Trot souvenir to commemorate the 33rd Turkey Trot.

*Entry Fee/Race Location: $6/person; Strider members, $1 discount. Family Rate: Families pay no more than $15 regardless of the number of family members participating. Register in advance, or on race day, beginning at 2 p.m. at Deerfield County Park. Entry fee includes free entry to park on race day. Runners should report to the register area near the footbridge no later than 2:45 p.m. Deerfield County Park is 5.5 miles west of Mt. Pleasant on M-20. (W. Remus Rd.) Turn south into park and turn right into the first parking lot.

Miscellaneous: The Turkey Trot is run through the park on established trails, which follow along the Chippewa River, and is approximately 6k in length. Rain, snow, mud, floods, fallen trees and low temperatures have all made memorable trots in the past. Due the nature of the course, water will be available only at the start/finish area. Rustic restrooms are available at the park. No shower/locker rooms—arrive ready to trot. Contact Dave Alsager at (989) 773-2595 for additional information. Please enter in advance if possible.

Food and Fellowship: Join the turkey gang right after the race for a hotdog or two cooked over an open fire. Help us enjoy the after race party even more by donating a bag of chips, trailmix, your Aunt Bea’s favorite apple pie, cookies, baked beans, lobster, whatever. Bring your plate from the 1999 Turkey Trot, if your can find it…..

Waiver: I know the running a road race is potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, am in good health, and am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I assume all the risks associate with running in the event including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of weather, including high heat, and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, roller skates, or blades, animals, and radio headsets are not allowed in the race and I will abide by the guideline.
