| Welcome
to Michigan ASCD's online presence!
The purpose of the Michigan ASCD Web site is to provide information
and awareness about Michigan ASCD; to create a forum for educators
to discuss, become knowledgeable about, and conduct research
on educational topics; to post professional development and
growth opportunities available through the organization; to
identify promising and effective educational practices, practitioners,
programs & resources in Michigan; and to identify legislation
affecting Michigan (and national) education.
ABOUT MASCD
Michigan ASCD is the state affiliate of the Association
for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD),
a national organization of diverse educators committed to
excellence in teaching and learning.
Located in Lansing, Michigan ASCD is a strong resource
and advocate for quality teaching and learning in our state.
The organization collaborates with the State Department of
Education, the State Board of Education, the Legislature and
other educational organizations to advocate for and influence
the educational policy and practices that are of interest
to our membership. Driving directions

Michigan ASCD offers its membership quality and
focused professional development opportunities; award winning
publications; a listserv that provides key, relevant, and
timely information on an ongoing basis; and a presence in
Lansing to observe and respond to educational and legislative
trends. There are also opportunities to serve on state-wide
committees (i.e., eleven Michigan ASCD members currently
serve on the State Department of Education’s various
No Child Left Behind/Education Yes! committees) and to participate
in the governance and activities of Michigan ASCD. Networking
opportunities abound. Occasions to share your expertise are
also available.
While we work closely with ASCD
on many issues of common interest, Michigan ASCD
is the local connection to Michigan education.
