New Leadership Moves Michigan ASCD Forward

Long-time Executive Director, Olga Moir, has announced her retirement which was effective in the summer of 2009. Olga has served the organization for over fifteen years. Under her leadership, Michigan ASCD and the national ASCD organizations have experienced great changes.

Our organization created a transition team which has resulted in redefining leadership roles. By action of the Board of Directors, Patricia McNeill has been selected to serve as Executive Director effective January 1, 2010. Jason O’Donnell will now serve as Associate Director. Mycah Artis is the new part-time Program Assistant, and Jeremy Harder has assumed the role of the Michigan ASCD Technology and Design Coordinator. Together with our Board, they will concentrate on three primary organizational priorities.

As defined by the Transition Team and approved by the Board, our three major focus areas are increasing our influence within educational circles, continuing to strongly advocate for improvement of student learning, and providing quality membership services and efficient operations.

Our Executive Director will focus on increasing our influence, beginning with other professional organizations and extending to governmental entities. The Associate Director will oversee membership services and operations. Together they will share responsibilities for advocacy for thoughtful and informed decisions that impact student learning.
