Classroom Policies
1. Be prepared for class. You should always bring the following items. You will
not be allowed to return to your locker to retrieve them.
 |
two writing utensils, which can include black or blue ink pens (no
gel pens) or pencils. |
 |
notebook paper - work done on spiral paper MUST have the edges
cut off. |
 |
your computer folder |
 |
your assignment book |
 |
any assignment or assignments due that day |
 |
a book to read if work is complete |
2. You are expected to be in your assigned seat when class
begins. If you are not in your seat when I walk up to the podium, you will
be considered tardy. When you first take your seat, be sure to check
the whiteboard to make sure you are prepared and ready to begin class. A
weekly or bi-weekly schedule will be posted on it at the beginning of each
week. You will be expected to write down the information in your
student planner, and check it for updates each time you are in class.
BEFORE class starts you should log in to your
assigned computer and make sure the network loads properly. We should not have to wait for
you to log in when we go into the lab as a class. If you are not
logged in, it will count as a tardy.
3. Assignments should be brought to class ready to turn in on the day they
are due. You will not be allowed to retrieve them if they are in
your locker. Your first and last name must be on the paper to receive
credit. Papers with no names will be marked down. Papers must be legible - if I can't read it, it will be
considered incorrect.

Computers 1:
Each student will receive one Late Work Pass at the
beginning of each marking period. This may be used to turn one
assignment in late one class period after it is due. If the
pass is lost, it will not be replaced. It must be attached to the
assignment in order to receive credit. Unless you are using your pass,
no late assignments will be accepted. NOTE: this pass does not
apply to major projects, only for daily assignment-type work.
|
 |
Computers 2 and Web Page Design:
Late assignments will not be accepted. |
4. Attendance is very important because much of the work will be done in
class. If you are absent, make-up work is your responsibility. It is your responsibility to ask the
teacher or another student about missed work and new due dates, and to
arrange time to come in outside of class to complete work, if necessary. If you know you are going to be
absent, you should let the teacher know prior to your absence in case work
can be assigned for that time period. If you are absent the class
period prior to a quiz or test that was assigned before your absence
you will still be required to take it. This also applies to
assignments and any similar item. Otherwise, your number of make-up
days includes only the number of missed class days.
5. Talking during quizzes and tests is not allowed. Your quiz/test will
be taken and a score of 0 will be entered in my grade book.
6. You should remain seated at all times.
7. Raise your hand before speaking.
8. Hall pass use is discouraged. You should use the restroom and get a drink of water, if
necessary, prior to class starting. You will not be allowed a pass to return
to your locker for forgotten items.
9. Work areas, both in the classroom and in the lab, should
be picked up and clean prior to students leaving. However, DO NOT pack up your materials before the teacher verbally tells you to do
so.
10 Respect your classmates. Treat others the way you would like to be
treated.
11. The teacher's desk, computer, phone, and cupboards are strictly off limits
to students.
12. The Student Handbook will be followed. Any violation of it or other
disruptive behavior will be dealt with depending on the severity of the
offense. Penalties could include, but are not limited to:
 |
a verbal reminder in class |
 |
a lunch detention |
 |
referral to Mr. Hufnagel |
 |
discussion with teacher |
 |
phone call home |
 |
after-school detention |
 |
removal from class until I can meet with your parents, Mr. Hufnagel, and
you. |

encouraged to have a separate folder for each of my classes. A folder
or section in a binder is acceptable. Students who
are more than one lesson behind in keyboarding should arrange to come in
outside of class time to get caught up.
