It is tradition for us to eat dinner by candlelight on Christmas Eve. We had chicken shiskabobs. This was Tim's first day off, so we slept in, ate a big breakfast, wrapped presents, went to the mall to pick up last minute gifts, went to church (we were so glad Ardie joined us), then returned home for dinner. Tim and I fell asleep on the couch, but Tim woke us up at 11 p.m. to finish wrapping presents. That little nap was just what we needed--unfortunately, we couldn't get back to sleep until 2 a.m. The kids went to bed around 10 p.m. and stayed there. We thought we heard them up around 2 a.m., but we checked and they were still in bed.

On Christmas morning, we opened stockings first. Jarred got Starburst hard candies, socks, hair gel, a Charlie Brown Peds dispenser with refills, Jelly Belly's, deodorant, toothbrush, and a bungee ball.
Zach enjoyed his stocking too. He got white chocolate covered oreos, socks, a bungee ball, finger snowboard, orange chocolate, Hershey's Cookie and Cream bar, Jelly Belly's, a Yosemite Sam Peds dispenser, and a bungee ball.
Zach trys out the bungee ball. The first time we saw one was when we were visiting Mom last spring. A father and son were marketing them at a playground across from the Clearwater Marina. The balls are more difficult to work than they look. Zach's ball took revenge on him a few times and hit him in the stomach. Mom tried it too and got hit in the nose. So much for hand/eye coordination.
Zach and Jarred are pictured with their favorite gifts. Jarred got his snowboard boots with step-in bindings that he wanted so badly. Zach's favorite gift was his "No Limit Records" charm on a gold chain. Now Zach can look like a real gangster. Jarred will have to wait until New Years Eve to try his gift out. Wearing snowboots around the living room just doesn't have the same impact.

Dad, Granny, Ardie and Rob came to visit around 12:30 p.m. for dinner. We opened presents before eating. Dad holds up his blanket that he received from us. It is similar to the blanket we got in Denali. Dad said it was fitting that it has bears on it since the gift was from Tim, Jennie, BEAR, and Zach. Dad also received a turkey roaster from Rob and Ardie.
We were glad that Granny could come to visit, although she was going to have a busy day. Her next stop after our house was Inez and Jerry's. Here Granny holds her gift that has snapshots of Mackinac Island views. Ardie and Rob got her Lancome perfume and lotion.
Finders are keepers. I put corn on the stove before opening presents and totally forgot about it. When we were finished with presents, I could smell burning in the kitchen. We had to open windows to let the smell out and to keep the fire detectors from going off. Our house got a little chilly, so Granny wrapped up in Dad's blanket.
After dinner, we ate cheesecake and talked. Then Dad left to take Granny to Inez and Jerry's. A few moments after they left, Dad came back because he forgot his camera. So before he left again, we took a quick snapshot of Dad with two of his girls.
