The Web Development class is based on the IT Federal Career Cluster and the Michigan BMMT Pathway for Digital Design. Students will:

  • Gather and analyze interactive media customer requirements.
  • Define scope of interactive media work in written form.
  • Create interactive media product specifications.
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of Project Management.
  • Demonstrate the effective use of tools for interactive media production, development and project management.
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of web programming and hosting.
  • Create/implement interactive media product.
  • Test interactive media product.
  • Deliver a quality interactive media product.
  • Perform maintenance and customer support functions for interactive media products.

Students will utilize Macromedia applications to create web-ready communications for business and personal use. The curriculum being used was developed by Macromedia and contains the following key pedagogical elements:

  • Problem solving that helps support multiple perspectives
  • Refelection about the design process and effective communication
  • Peer teaching and evaluation in a collaborative environment
  • Authentic assessment that ties back to standards
  • "Soft" skills such as interviewing and responding to feedback
  • Web site design for clients
  • Redesign according to client specifications
  • Design solutions, including effective navigation systems and digital narrative
  • Technical web publishing
