The Web Development class is based on the IT Federal Career Cluster and the Michigan BMMT Pathway for Digital Design. Students will:
- Gather and analyze interactive media customer requirements.
- Define scope of interactive media work in written form.
- Create interactive media product specifications.
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of Project Management.
- Demonstrate the effective use of tools for interactive media production, development and project management.
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of web programming and hosting.
- Create/implement interactive media product.
- Test interactive media product.
- Deliver a quality interactive media product.
- Perform maintenance and customer support functions for interactive media products.
Students will utilize Macromedia applications to create web-ready communications for business and personal use. The curriculum being used was developed by Macromedia and contains the following key pedagogical elements:
- Problem solving that helps support multiple perspectives
- Refelection about the design process and effective communication
- Peer teaching and evaluation in a collaborative environment
- Authentic assessment that ties back to standards
- "Soft" skills such as interviewing and responding to feedback
- Web site design for clients
- Redesign according to client specifications
- Design solutions, including effective navigation systems and digital narrative
- Technical web publishing
