  • Make a step-by-step tutorial for a Microsoft Word feature (sample) using the PRINT SCREEN and cropping feature

  • Do not include tear-offs in design

  • Create an advertisement to sell a personal item, announce something, or find something you have lost
  • The advertisement should be created in a hidden line table that is less than 8.5 x 11
  • The advertisement should be in landscape format
  • Incorporate an appropriate graphic in your design
  • Include tear-offs with your name and phone number in design
  • Use indented right or left text for design
  • Use a minimum of one line in your design

Tickets: School Dance (see sample) [Top]

  • Create 8 tickets on 8.5 X 11 paper, taking into consideration intercolumn spacing to allow for cutting
  • Use shading to show contrast on a portion of the ticket
  • Use a graphic that relates to the dance theme
  • Use right or left alignment for text (do not mix alignment)
  • Incorporate a line into the design
  • Ticket must include the who, what, where, when, etc. on the ticket

  • Create a 1 row, 3 column table
    • Columns 1 and 3 at a width of 4.5"
    • Column 2 at a width of 1"
    • Row height at 7.3" exactly
  • Create the content for the back page in the first column and the content for the front cover in column 3
    • Use borders as needed to underline paragraphs
    • Set all heading fonts to Verdana; all content to Garamond
    • Set dot leader tabs where needed (to use the tabs within a table, hold down the control key while you click the Tab key)
    • On the back cover, add a line at the bottom that says "Created by Your Name"
  • On page 2, duplicate the table size for page 1
    • Use borders as needed to underline paragraphs
    • Set all heading fonts to Verdana; all content to Garamond
    • Set dot leader tabs where needed (to use the tabs within a table, hold down the control key while you click the Tab key)
    • Any place the name "Jenna Hatch" appears, replace her name with yours

Program: School Play "Paper Bag Bandit " or another School Function
(such as NHS, Band, Team programs, etc.)

  • Change page setup to LANDSCAPE with all margins at .5"
  • Create a 1 row, 3 column table
    • Columns 1 and 3 at a width of 4.5"
    • Column 2 at a width of 1"
    • Row height at 7.3" exactly
  • Create the content for the back page in the first column and the content for the front cover in column 3
  • On page 2, duplicate the table size for page 1 and add content
  • Your program must include the following elements
    • Graphic (avoid Word clipart--photos are okay)
    • Borders
    • Use of tabs to align text
    • No more than two fonts used (headings a San Serif font; content a Serif font)
    • The back cover must include your name as the creator of the document
    • Use no more than 2-3 colors in the design (remember this will be printed in black and white)

Business Card (CorpView) [Top]

  • Create a business card for your division of CorpView (MoneyView, PublishView, etc.)
  • Create a table to place your business cards in
    • Set all margins to .375"
    • Create a 1-row, 3-column table
    • Set width of columns: column 1 to 3.5", column 2 to .75", column 3 to 3.5"
    • Set row height to 2" exactly
    • Add a second row at a .75" row exactly
    • Copy these two rows down the page until you have 8 business cards per page

  • Do not use Times New Roman for the font, but make sure the font you select compliments your logo AND is readable
  • Incorporate the graphic design elements: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity
  • AVOID centering text and allow room for white space
  • Place a border around the outside of each business card so each card looks defined
  • No need to put your name on this business card in the footer (I'll know whose it is)

  • Duplicate the organizational chart in your folder for CorpView
  • The organizational chart must be landscape on 8.5 X 11 paper

Brochure [Top]

  • Create a tri-fold brochure that satisfies one of the following purposes
    • Advertise a club, organization, sport, or academic area at Beaverton Rural Schools
    • Teach a safety topic (examples: Internet safety, riding a bike, snowboarding, Identity Theft)
    • Create a brochure for a local company or your company in CorpView that describes the services or products they provide

  • Create a new document in Microsoft Word with the following settings
    • All margins .5"
    • Landscape
    • Create a hidden line table with 5 columns, 1 row. Column widths are as follows: 2.67", 1", 2.67", 1", 2.67". Row height is 7.3".
  • The document will end up being a two-page document, with the same table structure on each page
  • Add content so the brochure can be folded and displayed (see SAMPLE for order of content)
  • Use Microsoft drawing tools to create parts of the document (avoid clipart)
