Virtual Field Trips

Virtual Field trips are two-way, interactive connections with people and places all over the nation and, sometimes, the world. They give our
students and faculty opportunities to experience educational, cultural, and entertaining activities without ever leaving their school building. This not only opens the world to us at an amazing cost-savings, it also expands it beyond what a bus trip would be capable of time-wise.

Our current virtual field trips on a regular basis are mostly in the middle and primary school levels. However, we are hoping to expand that range to include high school classes as well. In March, as a part of March Is Reading Month, our middle and primary students share reading presentations with other classes across the United States in a program called Read Around the Planet (formerly Read Across America). In May they also participate in a cross-state program celebrating Michigan Week.

Some providers of general interest that you can find at the TWICE site given below include:  NASA, the San Diego Zoo, the National Archives, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Smithsonian Institute, and even a direct connect with our representatives in the U.S. House and Senate!
