Mrs. Ogger, Physical Education teacher, recently ended her basketball unit with a school wide “hot shot” tournament. Each classroom competed to determine a classroom champion. Sixth grade champion were:

CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT REQUESTS

Each year parents are given the opportunity to indicate the kind of classroom environment that best fits the needs of their child.  These forms are available in the office and need to be returned to the office by Friday,

May 9th.  I cannot guarantee a specific teacher as there are many factors that go into the formation of each class list. A special thank you to parents and teachers for their support in the creation of next year’s class lists. Class lists will be posted a few days before the start of the 2008-2009 school year.

PENNIES FOR PETS

For the past two weeks the classrooms at McGuire School have had a “Pennies for Pets” Competition. Pennies and currency counted for points, silver coin was a negative count against a classroom. This competition resulted in McGuire 5/6 School raising $1,068.36 for the pets at the Isabella Humane Society. Mr. Buchanan’s classroom won the competition with 9,715 points and over $200 raised. Mrs. Ouellette’s came in last with -$1246 but actually raised over $150, the second highest amount. The money donated was used to purchase 200 lbs. of dog food, 200 lbs. of kitty litter, cat food, leashes, pet carriers, bleach, and many other items. We can all be proud of our students at Mary McGuire for a great service project.

McGUIRE STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN “STRINGTACULAR XVII

Most mornings a group of students are dropped off at McGuire School carrying odd shaped black cases. They have just spent the last hour practicing their string instrument at West Intermediate. On April 24, 2008, they participated in the “Stringtacular XVII” Concert at the Mt. Pleasant High Performing Arts Center. Students stepping off that bus and performing at the concert included:Jade Miller, Anna Lutes, Breanna Colwell, Madison Whyte.
